Chris Stanley

Club President

Chris was raised in Massachusetts and later lived in North Carolina for 13 years.  She has always dabbled in politics and has worked for campaigns or candidates nearly every election since she was old enough to vote.  She moved here in 2014 and has stayed involved in local politics.

Ellen Dugan

Vice President, Operations

Ellen Dugan immigrated to the US from Germany.  She was a Deputy Commissioner at the Indiana Public Service Commission, a law professor at Northern Illinois University School of Law and a corporate attorney at Macy's.  She is a lifelong Democrat and believes in universal health care and a social safety net for all.  She came to the Villages in 2011.

Lee LeFaivre

Vice President Communications
Born in Ferguson MO.  Got a BA in Psych from University of Missouri.  Spent 5 years in the Air Force - stationed at Hickam AFB Hawaii.  Earned a MA in Mgt  from USC in CA.  Married, 2 kids, 2 grand kids, one great grand kid. Sold computer hardware and software to large companies.  We semi-retired to the Villages in 2006.   For the last 20 years I have operated our home based travel agency.

Ann Wade

Received a BS in education and then a JD. After practicing law for a few years, taught in the U.S. and then internationally. Became a member of Democrats abroad in London, England. Retired in 2014 and moved to the Villages. Have one son.

Paul Hausner


Moved from Chicago area (GO CUBS!!) to The Villages with wife Sue 8 years ago. We have 3 kids and 7 grandkids. Served as the VDC Treasurer for 5 years. BS in Mechanical Engineering and an MBA in Marketing.  If you're looking for me - try one of The Villages golf courses.

Born in Philadelphia and raised in famous Levittown, Pa, I spent 45 formative years in New Mexico.  I earned a BA in Secondary Ed from Rider University and an MA from St. John’s Graduate Institute. After a few years as a quasi-hippie in Santa Fe and Taos (I never would give up running water), I taught English and History grades 6-12, two years of EFL in Turkey, and for 15 years I owned a custom ceramic tile studio in New Mexico working on projects like the Kimo Theater restoration and the VLA Radio Telescopes.  I also authored a book called Faces of Turkey, Istanbul, which features some of my cultural photography. Not known for my accurate spelling, nonetheless, I am your new Secretary of the Villages Democratic Club.

Heather Rabinowitz

Born in The Bronx and raised in Great Neck, NY. BA from Penn State Univ., M.ED Temple Univ. Art Teacher/Office Manager in Philly. Married, two children, two grands. Retired with husband to Florida after casting our votes for Barack Obama on Election Day 2008. With husband has been avid Zydeco dancer for 27 years. Retirement has presented an opportunity to become politically active.

Semi-retired cancer researcher with 30+ yrs experience in government (NIH, FDA), academia (UCSF) and industry (Sanofi, Bristol-Myers). Graduate PhD work at Brown, emphasis in applied math. Active patient advocate. Also on the Board of the Democratic Women’s Club of the Villages. Lead “Political Moderates Discussion Group”. Lived most of life in San Francisco, last 8 years in Boston. Moved to the Villages in October 2017. Married 47 yrs, 1 son, 2 grandkids.

Thirty-eight year Insurance career: Founder & President Physicians Plans providing professional liability insurance including, Hospitals, Health Maintenance Organizations, Insurance Companies, Attorneys, Accountants and Real Estate Professionals throughout USA; Founding member: Professional Liability Underwriting Society; Named Who’s Who Executive Directory for Excellence in Leadership; FINALLY RETIRED! Sumter County State Committeeman 5 yrs.

Proud moment: recognized by Sports Illustrated with Clinton, CT High School Football team as longest unbeaten and unscored upon team in the country, for three years running (33 games).

Jerry Meyer


After attending a broadcasting school in Los Angeles and passing the FCC test for a first class Engineer's license, Jerry Meyer returned to his home state of Iowa taking a job in Waterloo and later with a start-up station in Waverly.   After five years he and his family moved to Traverse City Michigan where he worked in radio and television for 30 years, concluding his broadcasting career at the NBC - TV affiliate as news anchor. He and his wife then moved to Rhode Island to be near family and he spent 15 years as the Executive Director of the Chamber of Commerce in East Greenwich. He and his wife Nancy moved to The Villages in 2013.  A newsletter Jerry started for his neighbors has been absorbed into The Villages Democrats and now is sent to over 1200 subscribers.

Gerry Van Luven

BS in Education from University of NY at Cortland; MS in Education from Indiana University. Married to Martin for 45 years, 3 daughters, 6 grandchildren.  Came to South Florida in 1978, moved to Villages in 2005. Active volunteer in education issues including Tutors for Kids, Villages Elementary at Lady Lake Mentoring Program, and PREP.  Recently serving the Democratic Club of The Villages as chairperson of EPIC (Education Policy Issue Caucus).
