Mary Martine-Scheiner


Born at McDill AFB, in Tampa, and as an Air Force kid has lived all over the country. She moved to The Villages from Phoenix, AZ, as a newlywed, in 2014. Along with her husband Jim, she enjoys traveling, crafting, and all things Disney. Mary has five children spread across the country; no grandchildren – YET! She is a retired teacher with a degree in elementary education and with a specialization in early childhood education.

Larry Gilbert

Vice President of Operations
Larry and his wife Pat moved to The Villages in 2015. He spent 25 yrs with the Lewiston, Maine Police Department, 5 of which as Chief. He was President Clinton’s US Marshall of Maine for 8 yrs, and spent another 5 as Associate Director of the Maine Community Policing Institute at UM. The last 5 years before retiring, Larry served as the Mayor of the City of Lewiston, Maine. He is the father of 3 and grandfather of 3.

Lee LeFaivre

Vice President Communications
Born in Ferguson MO.  Got a BA in Psych from University of Missouri.  Spent 5 years in the Air Force - stationed at Hickam AFB Hawaii.  Earned a MA in Mgt  from USC in CA.  Married, 2 kids, 2 grand kids, one great grand kid. Sold computer hardware and software to large companies.  We semi-retired to the Villages in 2006.   For the last 20 years I have operated our home based travel agency.

Heather Rabinowitz

Vice President Programs
Born in The Bronx and raised in Great Neck, NY. Art Teacher/Office Manager in Philly. Married, two children, two grands. Retired with husband to Florida after casting our votes for Barack Obama on Election Day 2008. With husband, has been avid Zydeco dancer for 25 years. Retirement has presented an opportunity to become politically active.

Paul Hausner


My wife Sue and I have been residents of The Villages for 8 years. We have 3 kids and 7 grandkids.  We moved here from the Chicago area (GO CUBS!!).  I have served as the VDC Treasurer for almost 5 years.  My educational background includes a BS in Mechanical Engineering and an MBA in Marketing.  If you're looking for me - try one of The Villages golf courses.

Beverly Eckert

Texas gal - born, raised and educated in Lone Star State.  Married to USAF pilot for 25 years.  Medical Administration for 20 years.  Lived adult life 3 assignments in Pacific, Hawaii.  12 years in CA before living in Midwest for 16 years.  Moved to FL in 2014.  Loves to travel.


Ellen Dugan


Ellen Dugan emigrated to the US from Germany.  She was a Deputy Commissioner at the Indiana Public Service Commission, a law professor at Northern Illinois University School of Law and a corporate attorney at Macy's.  She is a lifelong Democrat and she believes in universal health care and a social safety net for all.  She came to the Villages in 2011.

Joe Flynn


Joe Flynn, from MA and CT; in The Villages 12 yrs; US Coast Guard Vet; married 55 years, 3 sons, 5 grandchildren. Thirty-eight year Insurance career: Founder & President Physicians Plans providing professional liability insurance including, Hospitals, Health Maintenance Organizations, Insurance Companies, Attorneys, Accountants and Real Estate Professionals throughout USA; Founding member: Professional Liability Underwriting Society; Named Who’s Who Executive Directory for Excellence in Leadership; FINALLY RETIRED! Sumter County State Committeeman 5 yrs.

Proud moment: recognized by Sports Illustrated with Clinton, CT High School Football team as longest unbeaten and unscored upon team in the country, for three years running (33 games).

Dave McCormick

Retired after 32 year civil service career.  He was elected and served as School Board President and currently supports broad-based party outreach.  A self-described Kennedy Democrat, th looks for good management and financial discipline in our politics.  Integrity is important.  Let's get back to strong core values!

Cindy Grossman

A resident of the Villages since 2013, Cindy was  formerly a  long-term resident of Manhattan.  She served 32 years as an administrator at St. John’s University. In the Villages, she is active with the Tri-County Unitarian Universalists and she frequently teaches literature courses for the Villages Enrichment Academy.

Sue Dubman

Recently moved to Villages. Semi-retired clinical researcher with 30+ yrs experience in gov’t (NIH, FDA), academia (UCSF) and industry (Sanofi, Bristol-Myers). Grad work at Brown, emphasis in pop sciences and applied math/IT. Active patient advocate. Lived most of life in San Fran, last 8 yrs in Boston. Married 47 yrs, 1 son, 2 grandkids.

Jerry Meyer


After attending a broadcasting school in Los Angeles and passing the FCC test for a first class Engineer's license, Jerry Meyer returned to his home state of Iowa taking a job in Waterloo and later with a start-up station in Waverly.   After five years he and his family moved to Traverse City Michigan where he worked in radio and television for 30 years, concluding his broadcasting career at the NBC - TV affiliate as news anchor. He and his wife then moved to Rhode Island to be near family and he spent 15 years as the Executive Director of the Chamber of Commerce in East Greenwich. He and his wife Nancy moved to The Villages in 2013.  A newsletter Jerry started for his neighbors has been absorbed into The Villages Democrats and now is sent to over 1200 subscribers.
